Leap Motion Chrome extension update – they beat me to it!

It was recently revealed that there will be official OS gesture control available for the Leap Motion, including mouse/touch events such as browser control.

This is awesome and I have embedded the official video below so you can check it out. Unfortunately it does pretty much exactly what I was aiming for with my Chrome Motion extension!

Due to this I have paused development on the extension for a spell so I can see if there is any way I can integrate it with the new gesture control, and possibly fill in any blanks to make it more useful to the end user.

I am still aiming to release the extension before the Leap Motion Controller ships to consumers, but I want to try and make it work with the official OS control – not against it.

As far as I can tell the new OS control will only work with touch enabled systems (such as Windows 8 or Windows 7 with the touch mode installed) so I will be reworking Chrome Motion to work in a similar manor to the official version – making the cross-over between the two as little as possible to help users when they move from one to the other.

There may also be scope for it to enable Mac OS interaction as I am not sure when the official Mac control will be deployed. Either way I will hopefully know more in the coming weeks when they let us beta test the new OS control and the new Air Space app store.

In the meantime take a look at the official video below – looks pretty epic I think you will agree.

I will update ya’ll again soon when I get a better idea of the new plan!

Take it easy.

Where can I find the app for gestures using the browser? There is a few apps going about, but nothing official that i’ve seen.
